Perimetral toe kicks are commonly made of panel strips from the same material the cabinets were made of. These strips support the front of the cabinets, whereas the back is loaded by anchors to the wall. This type of toe kicks are inexpensive and easy to install, but they become damp easily during floors cleaning, decay soon after and lost their capacity to support any weight, even though in appearance can still look solid. Another disadvantage is that they leave an empty space underneath the cabinets which collects dirt and is a perfect hiding place for insects and rodents. No doubt it is the less recommendable form to support cabinets.
